An Alcohol Addicted Person Enrolls In Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Rehabilitation For His Alcoholism

Donald used to boast to his friends how he could remain employed at a demanding and full-time job and get smashed almost every night. Unfortunately, after continuing this party lifestyle for about five-and-a-half years, he started to experience various alcohol related problems.

As an illustration, he had a hard time getting up for work because he felt so drained when he awoke. Not only this, but most mornings Donald had a terrible hangover. Obviously, the combination of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel inspired to go to work. To make things more difficult, around a week ago he received his second driving under the influence arrest in the past six months.

To further compound things, at work his last two work appraisals were less than acceptable. And lastly, his two-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his lack of patience, financial difficulties, angry outbursts, and his depression.

Although Donald was only twenty-four years old, he honestly started to look like he was in his early forties. Unfortunately, this is what irresponsible and hazardous drinking can do to an individual. And in all honesty he realized that he was experiencing the adverse effects of alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency and that he was too young to give up his life to abusive and unhealthy drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Regrettably, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Due to the fact that this was a circumstance that was repeated again and again, this distressed him greatly. In fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After discussing his alcohol drinking problems and his careless and excessive drinking with his girlfriend, he finally made up his mind to make an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his physician, he frankly stated that he has been drinking in an abusive manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then confirmed that drinking in moderation does not seem to work for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can live an alcohol-free life.

Donald also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health issue was adversely influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Rose, a drug and alcohol addiction psychiatrist, who influenced Donald to enroll in an alcohol and drug treatment facility as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.

After six months of comprehensive rehabilitation, Donald left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via outpatient therapy and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Motivated to change his life in a more productive manner, Donald joined a fitness center and started working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he remained sober for several months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. Stated briefly, quitting drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
